About the larp

This is a sci-fi horror themed escape room larp created by SoulFire Adventures Ltd and based on the UK larp events – Insomnia. The year is 2042, and approximately 84% of the human population has been destroyed by an artificial intelligence known as Nightingale. Those that have survived the initial onslaught now struggle to live in a world populated by a variety of genetically engineered creatures initially created by the amoral corporation Trident Pharmaceuticals. These creatures were released when Nightingale broke free from Trident and began her devastation of humanity.

Rumour has it that Trident had a secret weapon stashed away, one that might stop Nightingale for good, guarded by the results of their experiments and locked behind layers of protection. Perhaps it is still there. Do you dare find out?

Content Warnings: There is unlikely to be any triggering or particularly disturbing material in this game, however it is designed to be a tense game, will be played in very low light and has “creature horror” elements.

Costume (optional): Tattered clothing is ideal but not required

Debbie Starbuck: I am the owner of SoulFire Adventures Ltd, and the creator of Insomnia Lrp. In addition, I work for an escape room company in Reading and I’ve helped to run a large group at the UK Field and Festival fantasy larp Curious Pastimes for approximately a decade. Although the majority of my experience is with immersive horror via 6 years of running the the UK horror larp Insomnia Lrp, I intend to branch out into other genres and play styles through SoulFire Adventures. I attended the Smoke last year.


Physical contact You may be ‘killed’ by monsters. This will be roleplayed using physical contact but will not be rough.

Characters They can be their future selves having lived through the rise of Nightingale, or write their own background
Narrative control Intensely plotted and designed, but players have freedom as to how to achieve their goals. Puzzle solving is part of this larp.
Transparency There are predesigned secrets the organizers have from the players, and also that the players will have from each other
Representation level Scenery and props will be used to make the play space look something like the fictional space
Play culture Players are collaborating to achieve joint aims
